The Houston Rockets is a National Basketball Association team that is located in Texas. It is a professional American basketball team that is located in Texas. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) where they made a 22 consecutive win record that came to an end after they faced defeat on the hands of the Boston Celtics in March 2008. It is the second longest Winning Streak in the NBA history. They debuted in NBA in 1967 along with the Seattle Supersonics. It is amongst the seven teams that are members of the Midwest Division of the Western Conference of NBA. Their playing area is in Texas where they play wearing blue, red and white colored jerseys. They made it to the NBA Finals twice, once in 1981 and once in 1986 but were unfortunately defeated on both occasions by the Boston Celtics. This franchise bagged its first ever NBA title in 1994 under the leadership of Hakeem Olajuwon. With this victory it became the first team from Houston that had won any major sports title. The second NBA Championship followed in 1995. Apart from this the Rockets have made it to the NBA finals four times and have 22 Playoff Appearances to their credit. Further they are proud winners of four Conference titles and four Division titles. The Rockets' record in their debut season qualified for the first selection amongst the collegiate draft. They drafted Elvin Hayes who headed the Rockets to per game average of 28.4 points and a playoff appearance. Originally settled in San Diego the team was later relocated to Houston in 1971-72. National disgrace was in store for them owing to their defeats in 2001-2002 season. They were fortunate enough to acquire the first draft in the lottery. They acquired Yao Ming who had recently played for the Shanghai Sharks. They made a comeback in 2002-2003 with several talented players namely Yao Ming, Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley. Amongst these Francis and Mobley were traded in exchange of McGrady, Juwan Howard and several others. These players led their team to a record that was its personal best in almost a decade. They posted a finishing record of 51-31 and placed 5th in the Western Conference Playoffs. Later in 2005 offseason they acquired Stromile Swift and Derek Anderson. They made several trades that included the inclusion of Rafer Alston. Amongst the Hall of Fame members that have played for the Rockets are Barry, Hayes, Malone and Drexler to name a few. In the mid of June Juwan Howard was also traded and in return Mike James and Justin Reed were included. The NBA draft of 2007 in which they had the 26th pick, the Rockets chose Aaron Brooks of Oregon. They also made a trde off with SuperSonics in order to acquire the right to the 31st pick that they utilized to acquire Carl Landry. The 54th overall pick was utilized to select Brad Newley of Australia. However second round saw their elimination after their defeat from Utah Jazz.
