Colour & Winter Woolies

With winter upon us, wouldn’t it be nice to spruce up your wardrobe with a little festive colour.  Instead of the usual black and grey sweaters, cardigans and scarves, how about trying reds, greens and purples?

 

Think of the festive colours associated with the Christmas season.  Lots of reds, golds, greens and purples.  Think about the colours you decorate your Christmas trees in, or any of your Christmas decorations.  How about applying some of these festive colours to your own unique colour palette?

 

Having a colour analysis will help determine which red, green or purple is the best for you to wear.  If you have a ‘deep’ colouring, such as Catherine Zeta Jones, a scarlet red, emerald green or royal purple sweater, cardigan or scarf would look amazing on you. 

 

If you have a ‘warm’ colouring, like the actress Julianne Moore, then sweaters, cardigans or scarfs in an orange red, moss green and standard purple would be very flattering.

 

For the more mature lady, with ash or grey tones to her hair and pink undertones to her skin, a blue red, spruce green and bright periwinkle purple cashmere sweater wouldn’t go amiss.

 

If your colouring is more soft’, such as Kylie Minogue’s, then a cardigan, sweater or scarf in geranium red, teal green and soft violet would add harmony and balance to your natural look.

 

Teaming the right festive jewellery to your winter woollies will add a bit of sparkle, and as a general rule of thumb, silver, white gold and platinum look great on ‘deeps’ (think of Catherine Zeta Jones, Monica Bellucci) and ‘Cools’ (Judi Dench, Honor Blackman)

 

Yellow Gold looks better on ‘warms’ such as Anne Robinson and Julianne Moore, as well as ‘Softs’ such as Kylie Minogue and Kate Moss.

 

So go ahead and spruce up your winter woollies in the festive colours of the season.  Wearing colour will make you look healthier, younger and more confident.
