MLB Picks: Brewers vs. Braves Free Picks
Atlanta Braves vs Milwaukee Brewers MLB Free Picks: The Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves both had high expectations for this season, but both have started the year off slowly. The good news for these teams is that we are only a month into the season, and there is plenty of time to turn it around.
The Braves took the First Game of this series on Monday evening behind another solid pitching performance by Jair Jurrjens. It will be a matchup of two talented young pitchers in this one.
Marco Estrada has made just three starts this year, but he has a solid 3.00 ERA. Estrada's first start this year came against the Braves. He allowed four earned in six innings in his start against Atlanta. The Brewers are expecting to get a major boost on Wednesday night when Zack Greinke is to make his first start of the season.
If Milwaukee can get Greinke pitching like he has in the past couple years that will be a huge help to this team's chances in the NL Central. Ryan Braun has been absolutely hitting the cover off the ball so far this year. Braun is hitting .352 with 10 home runs and 23 runs batted in.
The Braves are sitting at 15-15, but they are just 6-7 at home. For a team that led the league with 56 wins at home last year, this is certainly a disappointing start to the season. It has primarily been the offense that has held the Braves back so far this year.
Atlanta has a .233 batting average as a team, which is 26th best in all of baseball. The Braves have a total of just five stolen bases this year, so they certainly don't manufacture runs very well. Jason Heyward, Dan Uggla, and Freddie Freeman need to pick up their production if this Braves offense is going to meet expectations. I expect the Braves to improve on their mediocre record as the season moves along.
Estrada had some difficulty against the Braves in their first meeting, and I think the Braves have the pitching edge in this one. The Milwaukee offense is also scuffling right now. The Brewers have scored just two runs in the last two games. I like the Braves to win this game.
